Micah 6:8 — Meaning & Reflection

“He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

Micah 6:8 (NIV)

God wants hearts that act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly — not empty rituals.

Background

Israel asked what offerings would please God — rams, oil, even a firstborn. Micah answers that God had already shown them what is good.

Teaching

Three phrases summarize faithful living: justice in how we treat others, mercy as something we love, and humility in daily fellowship with God. Religious activity cannot replace these.

Reflect

Prayer

Lord, teach me to do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with You in every part of my life. Amen.
