Romans 12:2 — Meaning & Reflection
“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Transformation starts in the mind and shows up in a life.
Background
After eleven chapters on God's mercy, Paul turns to how believers should live, urging them to offer themselves as living sacrifices.
Teaching
The world presses us into its mold. God's answer is renewal — a changed way of thinking shaped by His truth. A renewed mind learns to recognize and embrace God's will as good.
Reflect
- What messages from the world shape my thinking most?
- What truth from Scripture can renew my mind today?
Prayer
God, renew my mind. Keep me from being squeezed into the world's mold and help me recognize Your good will. Amen.
