Jeremiah 29:11 — Meaning & Reflection
“For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord , "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
God's good intentions hold even in a long season of waiting.
Background
Jeremiah wrote this letter to Jews already exiled in Babylon. He told them to settle in, build houses, and pray for the city — the exile would last seventy years.
Teaching
This promise was not a quick escape; it came with instructions to live faithfully where they were. God's thoughts toward His people were peace and a future hope. We can trust His purposes even when the timeline is longer than we want.
Reflect
- How can I live faithfully in my present season?
- Do I believe God's thoughts toward me are good?
Prayer
Lord, You know the plans You have for me. Help me trust You in the waiting and live faithfully where You have placed me. Amen.
