2 Corinthians 12:9 — Meaning & Reflection
“But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.”
Weakness is the place where Christ's strength is most clearly seen.
Background
Paul describes a "thorn in the flesh" he begged God three times to remove. Instead of removal, he received this answer.
Teaching
God did not say no without giving something better: sufficient grace. Paul learned to stop hiding his weakness and to see it as room for Christ's power to rest on him, like a tent pitched over him.
Reflect
- What weakness have I been trying to hide?
- How might God's grace be enough for it today?
Prayer
Lord, Your grace is enough for me. I bring You my weakness. Let Your power rest on me. Amen.
