Isaiah 40:31 — Meaning & Reflection

“but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

Waiting on God is where weary people find new strength.

Background

Isaiah 40 opens with God's call to comfort his people, speaking to a nation exhausted by judgment and exile.

Teaching

Even the young grow tired, the prophet says, but those who wait on the LORD exchange their strength for His. Soaring, running, and walking — God supplies strength for every pace of life, including the slow, ordinary walk.

Reflect

Prayer

Lord, I am tired. I wait on You. Renew my strength for whatever pace today requires. Amen.
