John 15:5 — Meaning & Reflection

“"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

John 15:5 (NIV)

Fruitfulness flows from staying connected, not straining harder.

Background

On the night before His crucifixion, Jesus teaches His disciples in the upper room, preparing them for life after He departs.

Teaching

A branch doesn't strain to produce grapes; it simply remains attached. Abiding means staying in Jesus through His words, prayer, obedience, and love. Apart from Him, nothing of lasting value grows.

Reflect

Prayer

Jesus, You are the vine. Keep me abiding in You so that my life bears lasting fruit. Amen.
