Daily Teaching
Ephesians 2:8-9 — Meaning & Reflection
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Salvation is a gift received, never a wage earned.
Background
Paul has just described humanity as dead in sin, then made alive with Christ by God's rich mercy.
Teaching
Grace is the source, faith is the channel, and God is the giver. No one can boast because no one contributes the cause. Verse 10 follows: we are created for good works — the fruit of salvation, not its root.
Reflect
- Do I ever try to earn God's love?
- How can gratitude for grace shape my day?
Prayer
God, thank You for the gift of salvation by grace. Free me from striving to earn what You have freely given. Amen.
