Acts 4:12 — Meaning & Reflection
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."”
Our salvation rests in Jesus alone, freeing us from the burden of trying to become our own savior.
Background
Peter speaks before Jerusalem's religious rulers after he and John are questioned about the healing of a man unable to walk. Filled with the Holy Spirit, he identifies the crucified and risen Jesus as the source of healing and salvation.
Teaching
Peter declares that salvation is found in Jesus, not in another authority or human achievement. Jesus' name points to his person and power, rather than to a formula we can use. The One rejected and crucified has been raised by God and is our sure hope. This truth invites both confident trust and humble witness, because salvation is something we receive, not something that makes us superior to others.
Reflect
- What am I relying on besides Jesus to make me secure before God?
- How can I speak of salvation in Christ with both conviction and humility?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I place my hope for salvation in you alone. Free me from self-reliance and help me share your grace with humility and love. Amen.
