1 Corinthians 15:58 — Meaning & Reflection

“Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”

1 Corinthians 15:58 (NIV)

Because resurrection is certain, no faithful labor offered to the Lord is wasted.

Background

This verse concludes Paul's extended defense and explanation of bodily resurrection. His call to steadfast service flows directly from God's victory over death through Christ.

Teaching

Resurrection hope gives lasting significance to faithful work in the present. Paul calls believers to remain steady and generous in serving the Lord, even when results are difficult to see. Our labor matters because it belongs to the risen Christ, not because it always receives recognition. We can persevere without making visible success the measure of faithfulness.

Reflect

Prayer

Lord Jesus, steady me when service feels unnoticed or fruitless. Help me work faithfully in the confidence that my labor in You is not wasted. Amen.
