Proverbs 16:3 — Meaning & Reflection
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.”
Entrusting our work to God means opening our plans to his guidance, not asking him merely to endorse them.
Background
Proverbs 16 opens with sayings about human plans, motives, and the Lord’s sovereign direction. This verse calls for entrusting one’s work to God within that larger emphasis on his authority.
Teaching
Committing our works to the Lord means placing our efforts and their outcomes in his care. It includes a willingness for him to correct our motives and redirect our plans. The promise of established thoughts is not a blank check for every ambition but an invitation to find steadiness under his guidance. We can work faithfully without pretending that everything depends on our control.
Reflect
- Which plan am I asking God to bless without being willing to change it?
- What would faithful effort without anxious control look like today?
Prayer
Lord, I place my work and plans into your hands. Correct my motives, guide my decisions, and help me leave the results with you. Amen.
