John 3:16 — Meaning & Reflection
“"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
The measure of God's love is what He gave.
Background
Jesus speaks with Nicodemus, a Pharisee who came by night. He has just explained the need to be born again and pointed to the bronze serpent Moses lifted up in the wilderness.
Teaching
Love is the source, giving is the action, believing is the response, and life is the result. Whoever believes is invited to receive this gift. Eternal life is not only length of days but a new quality of life in relationship with God, beginning now.
Reflect
- Do I live as someone deeply loved by God?
- Who in my life needs to hear of this love?
Prayer
Father, thank You for loving me enough to give Your Son. I believe in Him. Let Your love shape how I see myself and others today. Amen.
