Ezra 7:10 — Meaning & Reflection
“For Ezra had devoted himself to the study and observance of the Law of the Lord , and to teaching its decrees and laws in Israel.”
God’s Word takes root when we seek it carefully, live it humbly, and share it faithfully.
Background
Ezra is introduced as a priest and scribe skilled in the law of Moses. This verse describes his devotion as the narrative recounts his journey from Babylon to Jerusalem under King Artaxerxes.
Teaching
Ezra’s devotion joins study, obedience, and teaching. He does not treat knowledge of God’s law as a substitute for living by it. His example invites us to approach Scripture with hearts willing to be changed. As we practice what we learn, our words can more faithfully reflect the God we seek.
Reflect
- What truth from Scripture do I understand but struggle to practice?
- How could my daily conduct strengthen the encouragement I offer others?
Prayer
Lord, prepare my heart to receive your Word with attention and humility. Help me live what I learn and share it with love. Amen.
