Exodus 15:2 — Meaning & Reflection
“The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him.”
Remembering God’s deliverance can turn yesterday’s fear into today’s song.
Background
This verse belongs to the song Moses and the Israelites sing after crossing the sea and witnessing the defeat of Pharaoh’s army. Their praise celebrates the Lord as the source of their rescue.
Teaching
The people answer deliverance with worship, naming God as their strength, song, and salvation. Their praise is personal while remaining rooted in the faith of earlier generations. Remembering what God has done helps move faith beyond inherited words into lived gratitude. We honor him when we acknowledge that his grace, rather than our own sufficiency, sustains us.
Reflect
- What experience of God’s care can I remember with gratitude today?
- How is the faith I have received becoming a personal expression of trust and worship?
Prayer
Lord, I thank you for the ways your grace has sustained me. Let remembrance deepen my trust and turn my gratitude into sincere worship. Amen.
