Colossians 3:23 — Meaning & Reflection
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men,”
Ordinary work becomes worship when done for the Lord.
Background
Paul gives instructions for households, including servants whose work was often unseen and unappreciated.
Teaching
Working with all your heart means bringing your whole self to the task. The audience is the Lord, not people. That frees us from needing recognition and gives dignity to every task.
Reflect
- What task today can I do as for the Lord?
- Where am I working for human approval?
Prayer
Lord, I offer my work today to You. Help me do it wholeheartedly, for Your glory. Amen.
