Romans 8:28 — Meaning & Reflection
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Not all things are good, but God is working in all things for good.
Background
Romans 8 describes life in the Spirit, including suffering and groaning, and ends with the assurance that nothing can separate us from God's love.
Teaching
Paul does not deny pain — the verses before speak of groaning and weakness. The "good" is defined in verse 29: being conformed to the image of Christ. God weaves even hard threads into that purpose for those who love Him.
Reflect
- Where am I struggling to believe God is at work?
- How might God be shaping me to look more like Jesus through this?
Prayer
God, I trust that You are working even when I cannot see it. Use everything in my life to make me more like Christ. Amen.
