Isaiah 26:3-4 — Meaning & Reflection
“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord , the Lord , is the Rock eternal.”
Peace grows as we rest our changing thoughts on the unchanging strength of God.
Background
Isaiah 26 presents a song to be sung in Judah, celebrating God's salvation and righteous rule. Its opening verses contrast the security God gives with the downfall of human pride.
Teaching
The peace described here is rooted in God's faithfulness, not in our ability to control circumstances. A mind stayed on God keeps returning to him in trust. This is not a demand to suppress anxious feelings or prove the strength of our faith. It is an invitation to lean on the Lord, whose strength does not run out.
Reflect
- Where do my thoughts turn first when I feel unsettled?
- What simple practice could help me return my attention to God today?
Prayer
Lord, I bring you my restless thoughts and uncertain heart. Teach me to return to you and rest in your everlasting strength. Amen.
